There are so many good things about Doug’s Remodeling and their work that if I say it all this would be a a review so long that no one would read it! So I’ll try to summarize: extremely knowledgable — we had about 6-7 people come take a look at our stairs and no one knew exactly how to best tackle this remodel, particularly given the need to extend what were extremely narrow (and dangerous) treads which required a complex re-design while dealing with a back door that was very much set. Ryan figured it out after spending about 2.5 hours by himself taking measurements, looking through the drywall, mapping things out! He is extremely dedicated, detailed, and a bit of a perfectionist making sure his work is excellent all the way through. He also communicated with us about any issues that were emerging through the project and made sure to keep us in the loop of how resolving these may impact the initial budget, gave us time to think about those changes and make decisions, etc. He also proposed some ideas that we had not considered initially (e.g., creating an additional storage space under the stairs to take advantage of that extra, previously unused area). Finally this project took a long time to complete, given the complexity and some surprises he found along the way. Having a person working on a big project like this in your home could be potentially stressful or annoying, but Ryan is a truly good person and we (our dogs included!) were so comfortable with him coming in and out of the house and having him around that it was almost bittersweet when he was done with the project! We couldn’t recommend Doug’s Remodeling enough. We are uploading some pictures of the original stairs and the beautiful outcome.

We first reached out to Ryan back in January. Ryan came to our house within a couple of hours on the same day. It was very snowy outside, so we agreed to revisit it when the snow all melted later. When we reached out to him again in April, he remembered our house problem, and let me know when he would be available to help us. Hiring a contractor has been something I would hesitate because as first-time home owners, we were taken advantage by others before. A contractor’s warranty is often only up to a year or none, so many times you spent a lot money, but it turned out they didn’t solve the problem, and money spent was almost sunk cost. Ryan paid tons attention to details while working, the quality of service provided was high level. I would definitely hire him again and strongly recommend him to other families.
